She was an elementary school teacher in the Stamford public school system for many years. Joan loved to sail, was an avid bridge player, an accomplished seamstress and a voracious reader. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved animals. While living in Boothbay Harbor, she devoted countless hours to re-establishing the Catholic Library at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She holds the distinction of being the only woman to win the Commodore’s Cup race at Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club where she was a member.
