Empowered Aging Series: Ideas to Help Prevent Type 2 Diabetes

There is an epidemic of Type 2 Diabetes in Maine, and it affects seniors age 65 and older at a much higher rate than younger folks.  18 out of every 100 seniors currently has Type 2 Diabetes in Maine.  It is a disease with many difficult complications that destroy quality of life and reduces lifespan.  There is much we can do to prevent Type 2 Diabetes with education, and there is lots of new thinking on the subject. Presented by Registered Dietitian and nutritionist Dimsie McBride in conversation with Spotlight on Seniors host Steve Raymond, and filmed for “Spotlight on Seniors”  in The Lincoln Home.
