Free Live Screening of The Seal Who Came Home

Event has passed

The Camden Opera House in partnership with MPBN and with the support of the Goodridge family will present the new PBS documentary "The Seal Who Came Home" on Andre the Seal's 25 years spent living in Rockport with the Goodridge family on Wednesday August 6 at 8pm.

Andre was a harbor seal found as a pup by Goodridge in 1961 in the waters off Rockport, near Robinson's Rock. Goodridge raised the seal, which lived for 25 years in both wild and human worlds, gaining the love and admiration from people all over the world.

The 50 minute film, The Seal Who Came Home, is the final episode in the four-part series, My Wild Affair, and includes highlights of Andre's life. The film shows the challenges, responsibilities and rewards of raising a wild animal as a pet and includes actual footage, photographs, and interviews with people who were close to Andre throughout his life.

The presentation is free to the public on a first come first serve basis. Doors will open at 7:00 pm; the film will begin promptly at 8:00 pm. After the film we would like to invite the audience to stay and share stories of their own personal memories of Andre.
