Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library Meet

- Private group -
Wed, 09/30/2015 - 6:00pm

On September 14 twenty-one people attended the Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library, the largest number of attendees in years. Less than two years ago the group was considering disbanding due to lack of interest. Thanks to Past President Linda Winterberg and her executive board, the group is now a vital entity of the library. After an invitational luncheon at Marionmade Farm, people flocked in to become Friends.

Today the group is active in many ways. While Secondhand Prose, the used book sale room, is open every day, this summer Friends worked in the room twice a week to greet customers. The room is open all year around, providing a comfortable place to visit now that heat has been installed through fundraising events such as the Big Band Opus at Marionmade Farm.

On August 12 they hosted a mad Hatter Tea Party outside the library to thank members and the general public for their interest and support in keeping the Wiscasset Public Library funded and active in the community.

Members of the Friends are in the process of planning several programs in October and November. Among those featured will be Phil DiVice, Jay Robbins, Richard Blanko, Tom Block and Dick Forrest. More details will follow in the near future.

Join the Friends and attend the next meeting to find out more about this group’s activities. The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 9 at 9:30 for refreshments and at business meeting at 10:00.
