Beyond The Sea in Lincolnville carries two of our very special shadowboxes for artists, one for writers and one for painters.

Set inside a vintage cigar box (that closes) is a tiny easel, chair and palette. It’s a Maine studio of one’s own.” A two-inch watercolor portrait of the Camden Harbor sits on the easel. This postage stamp view of the ocean comes from the imagination of local Mainer Justin Stephens (who as a teen used to work as a hand on the schooner Appledore). He also handcrafted the tiny easel that holds it, along with the palette (the size of a fingernail) and minuscule brush. This art piece is one of a kind and when it’s gone, it’s gone.

These beautiful little keepsakes of your time in Maine are a conversation piece.
