Healthy Basics: How Foods Fight Diabetes

The road to diabetes doesn’t have to be a one-way street. Join chef and Food For Life instructor MiMi McGee to learn how a plant-based diet can help prevent diabetes, improve blood sugar levels and prevent complications for those with diabetes. Part of the Healthy Basics cooking and nutrition class series, which focuses on practical and low-budget cooking, meal planning and grocery shopping skills and tips. Participants are invited to attend the whole series or pick and choose! Series includes:

 

The Power Plate, focusing on general concepts behind healthy eating habits, Wednesday, September 30, 6 – 7 p.m.

How Foods Fight Diabetes, Wednesday, October 7, 6 – 7 p.m.

Foods for a Healthy Weight, Wednesday, October 14, 6 – 7 p.m.

How Foods Fight Heart Disease, Wednesday, October 21, 6 – 7 p.m.

 

In addition, students will be invited to participate in an optional tour of a local grocery store (time to be determined). Class cost is by donation; suggested donations are $15 per session or $50 for the series.
