Kindergarteners’ Gifts Bring Holiday Cheer to Quarry Hill

Cookie-dough ornaments and a giant “KINDNESS” card, created and donated by Appleton kindergarteners, add a sweet touch to a Christmas tree at the Terraces, Quarry Hill’s assisted-living community

CAMDEN, December 19, 2014 – Handmade gifts from Lynette Olsen’s kindergarten class at Appleton Village School are making seniors’ spirits bright at Quarry Hill this holiday season.

As part of a month-long, holiday-themed focus on kindness, the children baked cookie-dough ornaments and on December 16 donated the entire cinnamon-scented assortment to the residents of Quarry Hill’s assisted living community. The ornaments now decorate the community’s Christmas tree, accompanied by a super-sized card bearing the kids’ signatures and “K is for Kids Helping Others,” an acronym they developed based on the word KINDNESS.

The children also made special holiday placemats for patients at Pen Bay Medical Center. The mats will be used to brighten patients’ meal trays on Christmas Day.
