Gingerbread is one of many things that make us think of Christmas. It’s origin, dating back to Medieval Europe, is one of the “foods from around the world” items that the children at Sheepscot Valley Children’s House are studying in Miss Kate’s classroom. It was a true joy to read three gingerbread themed books to the students in their class this week.  Jan Brett’s Gingerbread Friends, The Gingerbread Pirates by Kristin Kladstrup and The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School by Laura Murray were all enjoyed as we learned facts about gingerbread throughout each exciting adventure.  Wishing all a very happy holiday from the Wiscasset Public Library Children’s Room and hoping everyone gets to enjoy some gingerbread treats this season.
