SPRUCE POINT INN
Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Today at Spruce Point Inn...

Partly cloudy. High 74F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

We were successful taking a photo of the night sky last night. We used two photos taken at 30 seconds, f5.6, ISO's 15000 and 1000. We then fused them in Photomatix software and post processed to increase contrast. Hope that you enjoy.

We also took a ride into the harbor yesterday on Brightline. Seeing things from the water is really a must do when visiting so please get out there if you have the chance. We plan  to make a GO PRO time lapse of the launch ride into the harbor today. Something new!

With the breeze up today, a sail aboard Sarah Meade is going to be terrific. If you are in the harbor, you may also consider a sail aboard Bay Lady, Eastwind, or Lazy Jack.

Downtown Boothbay Harbor, with it's quaint sidewalks and many shops and places to lunch, is again a great choice today. Try Coastal Maine Popcorn for a sweet or savory snack and Capers is a new deli that just opened across from the Post Office. Great lite bites. If you drive or bike downtown, consider Mama D's for lunch, as well. Say hello to Lori from Angelo.

Gleason Fine Art, Eventide, Abacus, Palabra Shop, and House of Logan are some of our favorite places to visit while in the Harbor.

Enjoy your day!

Tonight's Feature

Poker + white rum and a splash of sweet vermouth

There are several different Poker cocktails. Some list sweeteners in addition to the rum and vermouth. We find this pared-down recipe allows a better appreciation of both original ingredients. You can vary this mix by substituting different vermouths: Dubonnet Rouge or the Italian-made Ramazzotti, for example

Smoked Chicken Sandwich + baked beans, slaw, hand-punched fries

Pairs with Fess Parker Frontier Red, Great American Wine Company Chardonnay, or a pint of "633" from Boothbay Craft Brewery
