Adan Jose Patricio Guzman, 38, died unexpectedly on September 14, 2012 in Norman, Okla.

He was born on January 7, 1973 in Worcester, Mass., and was predeceased by his father, Amado Guzman.

He is survived by his wife, Angel McFarland Guzman; his beloved dog, Maggie; his stepmother, Mary; his godson, Bryse; and his in-laws, David and Beverly McFarland of Boothbay; and many other relatives and friends.

Guzman graduated from Toni & Guy Academy in Dallas, Texas and worked as an artistic director, instructor and eventually a freelance hair and makeup artist for over a decade, meeting many people from around the world in his travels. He volunteered for wildlife rescue and loved doing all sorts of odd jobs in his spare time.

Guzman was one of those people you didn't forget. And it wasn't just his long hair and tattoos that left their impression; he just had a special way of connecting with people, though he loved animals more than anything else in life. He was always stopping to help an injured animal whether it was a squirrel, a bird or even a skunk.

He was a husband, a son, a son-in-law, a brother, a brother-in-law, an uncle, a godfather and a best friend. Although he died while in Oklahoma, Maine was where he always called home. He especially loved Ocean Point.

A memorial service will be held on October 13 at Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate his life.
