Wharton’s classic novel gives a vivid picture of the world of high society in Gilded Age New York City. Men and women lived lives dictated by strict rules of behavior, unwritten yet understood by all. Public perception was paramount if you were to be considered a member of polite society. May Welland and Newland Archer are the couple at the center of The Age of Innocence. Come hear how their story compares to the story of Captain Richard and Mollie Tucker.

Built in 1807, Castle Tucker offers the visitor a trip through time to Victorian Wiscasset as you walk through a mansion filled with the original furnishings and decoration of the Tucker family, who lived here for over 140 years. Castle Tucker is one of the most complete and original Victorian homes in the United States.
