Albert M. Waltz

Albert M. Waltz, 84, a resident of Wiscasset and formerly of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., died Monday evening, August 6 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta after a period of failing health.

He was born May 3, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of William W. and Florence Carpenter Waltz, and attended schools on Staten Island, N.Y.

He entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving on Guam near the end of the war, and was called back to serve stateside in during the Korean War.

Waltz was employed by IBM for 32 years, working in several offices, including Fishkill and Poughkeepsie, N.Y., retiring as an electrical engineer.

He was a member of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Boothbay Harbor, the U.S. Power Squadron and Down East Modelers Guild.

Waltz was predeceased by his son, William W. Waltz, who died in 1990.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Waltz of Wiscasset; a son, Howard W. Waltz of Conesus, N.Y.; a daughter, Susan M. Waltz of Wiscasset; a sister, Meriam Murphy of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 13 at 2 p.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, 32 Emery Lane, Boothbay Harbor.
