Alna Column: Try the Little Village Bistro

Carol and I have been following the new business next to the Wiscasset Quik Stop on Facebook. The Little Village Bristo opened Friday, April 17. We were so excited about it; we were their first customers to come through the doors. The building has been beautifully renovated; there is a fireplace towards the bar area and the dining area is light and open with real comfortable padded seats.

Of course, someone like me looks for chairs and tables that move; no problem here. The staff is friendly, the service is excellent and the prices are reasonable.

Friday and Saturday night reservations were filled by opening day in the afternoon. KC and Tony Bickford are the new owners. KC is Red Gagnon's granddaughter. Her mom, Cindy Gagnon, runs Red's Eats on Main Street in Wiscasset.

Tony was the chef at The Thistle Inn in Boothbay Harbor and decided to go out on his own with KC to start their own restaurant. They have made a nice place to go to with friends for a good meal and space to enjoy it.

This is Carol's view on the Little Village Bristo along with mine. I have to tell you, I wish I had had a camera when they brought her fish and chips plate to the table. Carol's eyes were big as saucers. I kid you not, she had half a haddock, homemade fries, cole slaw and bread. The coating on that fish was crunchy but not hard hard.

We each had different meals and shared them. My haddock chowder was the best I have ever eaten. Sorry mom, but it was even better than yours and every other place I have ever had it, too. If you want a great place to go, this is the place; they also do takeout if you would rather eat at home.

This was a quiet week. Received word that the class of 1965 is having a 50th reunion.

We had a bunch of rainy days, so I hope the next few days are sunny.
