Anne R. Cederlund

Anne Robinson Cederlund, 82, wife of Howard A. Cederlund of Wiscasset, Maine, and Tucson, Arizona, died quietly on March 11, 2017 at their home in Tucson.

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Paul D. and Dorothy (Perron) Robinson, she attended Classical High School and Boston University, where she earned an associate degree in graphic art. Following graduation, she entered the world of entertainment, playing dinner piano in Boston and New York. Returning to Worcester, she worked as an electrical draftsman at Machinery Electrification Co. in Northborough, Massachusetts for several years.

In 1957, she married Norman R. Loring Jr. and they raised four children; Norman III, Meredith, Cynthia and Paul. In 1964 the family moved to Northfield, Massachusetts where Anne became a Cub Scout den mother, taught Sunday school at the Congregational Church, and was a 4-H leader. She was on the board of directors of the Franklin County SPCC, chairman of the Northfield Arts Festival and member of the Junior Branch Hospital League. When her children were all in school, she became an advertising representative and in-house layout artist for the Greenfield (Mass.) Recorder.

Returning to college, she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Massachusetts. In 1981, her 25-year marriage ended in divorce.

She moved to Cape Cod in 1982 and married Robert P. “Bob” Dolan Jr. They moved to Maine, where they built their home in Edgecomb and operated a successful arts and crafts business, Saltbox Studio of Maine, for several years.

In 1990 she returned to college, this time to the University of Southern Maine, where she earned her master’s degree in New England studies. Upon graduation, she worked for the Lincoln County Historical Association, serving as executive director for several years. During that time, she was also on the board of directors of Big Brothers- Big Sisters in Damariscotta.

Upon retirement, she and her husband shared a position as copy editor for the Lincoln County Weekly newspaper, where she wrote a monthly column called Snippets. In 2003, she won a first place award for her columns from Maine Media Women. Combining her talents, she wrote and illustrated a book for children called “The Little Lost Princess,” and began again to paint, exhibiting her work in local galleries. Her husband Bob passed away in 2008.

In 2011, Anne met her husband Howard A. Cederlund of Wiscasset, a noted bird photographer. They enjoyed many happy adventures traveling throughout the United States and Canada, and wintering at their home in Tucson, Arizona.

She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Damariscotta, Maine.

She is survived by her husband, Howard; her four children, Norman R. Loring III of Greenfield, Massachusetts; Meredith A. Loring of Allston, Massachusetts; Cass ( Cynthia ) Brush and her husband Tim of Breckenridge, Colorado; and Paul R. Loring, his wife Helen Meurer and their children Sophie and Julian Loring of Pleasantville, New York; stepchildren Robert P. Dolan III and his wife Janice Boudreau of Charlemont, Massachusetts; Kathryn Lien and her companion Jack Howard of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Anne Dolan-Wieting and her husband Jack Wieting of Durango, Colorado; Joan Dolan of Springfield, Massachusetts, Judi Cederlund Main and her husband Jim of Wiscasset, Maine; Gregg Cederlund and his wife Linda of Freeport, Maine, and their families.
