Call for artists for ‘The Natural World’ exhibition at River Arts

River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting artists to submit work for its upcoming exhibition, “The Natural World.” The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, April 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. The works will be on exhibit through May 21.

Submissions of in any media, sculpture and fine crafts welcome. Work should be submitted during gallery hours anytime up to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Entry forms are online at www.riverartsme.org. Artists can enter up to three works for jurying. Fees are $15 entry fee for members $20 entry fee for non-members. All work entered must be for sale.

Carl Little is juror for “The Natural World.” A native New Yorker, Little moved to Mount Desert Island in 1989. He holds degrees from Dartmouth, Columbia and Middlebury.

Little is the author of numerous art books, including “Nature & Culture: The Art of Joel Babb,” “William Irvine: A Painter’s Journey” and “Eric Hopkins: Above and Beyond,” which won the first John N. Cole Award from Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance in 2011.

Little has written about a number of “animaliers,” or animal artists, including Dahlov Ipcar, Bernard Langlais, Cabot Lyford, Robert Bissell and Irene Hardwicke Olivieri. He has contributed to the forthcoming “Art in Maine: Contemporary Perspectives.” He writes for Art New England, Island Journal, Hyperallergic, Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors and Ornament.
