Carleton S. Simmons Jr.

Carleton Sylvester Simmons Jr. (“Junior”) of Waldoboro died April 6, 2016 in Bangor.

He was born September 20, 1939 in Washington, Maine to Carleton and Grace (Forrest) Simmons Sr.

Junior grew up in Newcastle and attended local schools. He started working at a young age and his jobs included: Brown’s Farm, the electric company, Bath Iron Works, Knowles Industrial, worm digger, lobsterman, clam digger, seaweed collector, and fish net builder and filling bait bags for local fisherman. He was forced to retire in 2007 due to his declining health.

Junior loved being outside. He had a garden every year and especially loved his cucumbers. He also enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. He loved animals, especially his Papillion, Molly, and his bird, Shadow. He fed the birds and snakes in his garden and they would come when he called.

Junior will be desperately missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Marge, and his entire family.

He was predeceased by his parents and granddaughter, Crystalle Rose Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife, Margaret Simmons of Waldoboro; son, Carleton “Johnny” Simmons and his wife Stephanie of Waldoboro; daughter, Kathy Seigars of Alna; sons, Dana, Jerry and Nathan; stepdaughters, Deborah Furlong and her husband Brian of Tennessee, Rose Marie Prior and her husband Robert of Damariscotta, and Margaret Eustis and her husband Mark of Auburn; sisters, Edith Winchenbach of Waldoboro, Dorothy Kavanaugh of New York, and Mary Lou Rolerson and her husband Dana of Waldoboro; brother, Bert Simmons and his wife Jane of Bremen; grandchildren, Trisha, Nicholas, Steven, Joshua, Miranda, Larry, Michele, Lisa, DJ and Andrew; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of Junior's life will be held at Hall's Funeral Home at 949 Main Street, Waldoboro, Maine on Saturday, April 23 from 5 to 7 p.m.
