Chester R. Crocker

Chester R. Crocker, 92, of Lowelltown Road, Wiscasset died March 8, 2015 at his residence.

He was born in Damariscotta on May 21, 1922, a son of John H. and Margueritte (Lessner) Crocker.

He graduated from Lincoln Academy, and on Aug. 28, 1942 married Isabel L. Lewis. He entered the United States Navy serving during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Bronze Star and the Philippine Liberation Bronze Star. He was employed at Bath Iron Works as a pipe fitter, retiring in 1984.

Chester enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially spending time with family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Isabel L. Crocker, on July 16, 2007; two brothers, Edward Crocker and Charles Crocker; three sisters, Edna Weaver, Hazel Harold and Florence Cossette; and one grandson, David Crocker.

He is survived by three sons, John Crocker of Minnesota, Robert Crocker and his wife Nancy of Hinsdale, Massachusetts, Dennis Crocker and his wife Marilyn of Wells; one daughter, Sherry Franklin and her husband Stuart of Fort Myers, Florida; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A celebration of his life will be held at noon on Saturday, March 14 at the Woolwich-Wiscasset Baptist Church, Route 1, Woolwich. Burial with military honors will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset in the spring.
