Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) will present "Magic Time: A Program of Story and Song" — combining classic fairy tale literature with contemporary musical adaptations — on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Morrell Reading Room at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick.

The free hour-long children's programs will feature readings from the original books and live performances, video, and audio from MSMT's 2017 Theatre for Young Audiences shows, “Sleeping Beauty” and “Alice and Wonderland.” MSMT Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark and local actress and educator Kristen Thomas will perform with Marcia Gallagher on keyboards with Youth Services Librarian Pam Jenkins and Broadway World's Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold as narrators.

The programs are designed to be interactive with children having the opportunity to meet the artists involved and ask questions. Prior to the performances, Curtis Memorial Library will make available reading lists and story and media materials for youngsters to borrow, and at the performances, study materials and activity sheets will be distributed to involve the children in the continuing imaginative process.

Both programs are free to the public and are supported by a generous gift from the Maine Humanities Council.

The Curtis Memorial Library is located at 23 Pleasant Street in Brunswick. For more information, please call 207-725-8769.
