With all its selections open to the public, the 108 members of Lincoln Theater’s new Classic Film Club have chosen the movies for its inaugural season, starting Friday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. with the 1959 classic, “North by Northwest.”

Cary Grant stars as an innocent man mistaken for a spy in one of Hitchcock's greatest thrillers. While leaving New York's Plaza Hotel, advertising executive Roger Thornhill (Grant) has the misfortune of standing just as the name “George Kaplan” is paged — starting a lethal case of mistaken identity and a nonstop game of cat and mouse as he is pursued across North America by espionage agents trying to kill him ... and by police who suspect him of murder.

The other films in the 2017-18 season include: “The African Queen” (1951) on Friday, Nov. 3; “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957) on Friday, Dec. 1;  “Lawrence of Arabia” (1952) on Friday, Jan. 5, and “Casablanca” (1942) on Friday, Feb. 2.

All of the screenings will take place at 2 p.m. with concessions and wine available (courtesy of Stone Cove Catering), starting at 1 p.m.  Tickets are $8/adults, $6/Lincoln Theater members. Additional information can be found by calling 563-3424 or visiting the theater’s website, lcct.org.

“Everything I learned I learned from the movies,” Audrey Hepburn said. Time to join in for a classical education in cinema.
