Clayton H. Heald

Clayton H. Heald, 82, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, died March 16, 2014 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born in Bath on August 16, 1931, the son of Harry H. and Ida M. (Lewis) Heald.

He graduated from Morse High School in the class of 1950. He was employed at Bath Iron Works and entered the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. On June 20, 1981 he married Geraldine R. Porter. After serving in the military he returned to Bath Iron Works for 40 years, retiring in 1991 as a supervisor of the pipe shop. He was self employed as a lobsterman.

He was a member of the Five Islands Baptist Church. He served on town committees, planning board, president of the Mountainside Cemetery Association and was active with Maine State Layman’s Association.

He loved lobstering, deer hunting, duck hunting and his fresh garden vegetables.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine R. Heald of Georgetown; two sons, Stephen Heald and his wife Naya of Wiscasset and Howard Heald and his wife Theresa of Georgetown; one daughter, Sarah Heald of Georgetown; one stepson, Arthur Collins and his wife Debbie of Litchfield; seven grandchildren, Clayton Norris, Matthew Norris, Julianna Heald, Harry Heald, Kerry Scott Heald, Darren Collins and Kimberly Henke; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Five Islands Baptist Church, Georgetown with military honors. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be at Mountainside Cemetery in Georgetown.
