Clinton D. Kaler, 91, of Nobleboro died June 30, 2014 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born in Bath on December 2, 1922, a son of Clinton S. and Margaret Campbell Kaler. He attended Bath schools and was employed at Bath Iron Works prior to entering the United States Navy serving during World War II. On January 10, 1941 he married Gladys Rines and they resided in Wiscasset. Clint returned to Bath Iron Works retiring after 40 years as foreman outside machinist. They moved to Nobleboro in 1977. He was a consultant for Western Gear, traveling around the world and retiring in 1995.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle, the American Legion in Wiscasset, the American Legion in Damariscotta and a life member of the Bath Lodge of Elks.

Clint enjoyed sailing, fishing, golfing, watching the Red Sox and being very sociable throughout the community.

He is predeceased by his wife, Gladys G. Kaler on December 30, 1995, one brother, Jim Kaler and one sister, Anna Frost.

He is survived by one daughter, Joan Kaler and her companion Stuart Wright of Jay; two sons, Dean Kaler and his wife Gail of Milton, Pa. and Jim Kaler of Nobleboro; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath with an Elks service at 7 p.m. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle. A gathering of family and friends followed in the Parish hall. Burial will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta with military honors at a later date.
