Clyde W. Nightingale of Boothbay Harbor died peacefully with family by his side on Sept. 1, 2015.

He was born to Clyde and Beatrice (Gray) Nightingale on Dec. 11, 1934, in Grindstone, Maine.

He joined the Army after high school, serving his country in the aftermath of the Korean Conflict. He went on to a career in quality control for Pratt & Whitney from which he retired in the 1995.

Clyde loved fishing and hunting with his son and granddaughter, Erica. His family was the center of his life and he spoke proudly and lovingly of them to anyone with a listening ear. His granddaughter was the apple of his eye and he was always sure to let her know that “Papa loves Erica.”

Clyde will be laid to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in November 2015 with Army honors.

He is survived by his son, Todd Nightingale and his granddaughter, Erica Nightingale.
