The Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick is teaming up with Petco of Topsham for a BE A LIFESAVER, a mega adoption weekend on July 1 and 2 at the Topsham Fair Mall store. Dozens of puppies, kittens, adult dogs and cats will be up for adoption and awaiting their forever homes beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.

“BE A LIFESAVER” is a national adoption event organized by Petco to save lives in shelters all across the country. The Petco Foundation will make an additional donation to Coastal Humane Society for every adoption during the two-day event. The shelter’s goal is to place more than 65 animals into forever loving homes throughout the weekend.

This is the seventh large-scale adoption event between the partnering organizations. In one similar event, the shelter found homes for over 70 animals.

“For those who adopt at these events, they can feel extra good about adopting. Not only are they opening up their home to new family members, but they’re helping us receive grant funding from the Petco Foundation that will help us save even more lives,” said Joe Montisano, Executive Director for Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb.

Caylen Ayotte is the general manager for the Topsham store.

“We at Petco are excited to be part of another huge adoption event that will result in dozens of pets finding their forever homes. Our partnership with the Coastal Humane Society has given us the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our community’s animals. We are proud to call Coastal Humane our adoption partner, and will continue to support each other in our efforts to reduce the number of homeless pets."

Sneak peeks of the animals that will be available for adoption will be posted on the shelter’s Facebook page the week before the event. See them at www.Facebook.com/coastalhumanesociety or on the shelter website at www.coastalhumanesociety.org. Call 725-5051 with questions.
