U.S. Sen. Susan Collins has announced that Newcastle native Liam Brinkler has a spring internship in her Augusta office. Brinkler, a 2016 graduate of Lincoln Academy, is the son of Michael and Carole Brinkler of Newcastle.

“Liam is a hard worker and a terrific student, and I am delighted to welcome him to my Augusta office,” said Collins. “I enjoy every opportunity to give students the ability to become actively involved in the legislative process and to serve the citizens of Maine.”

Brinkler is a rising senior at the University of Maine at Farmington, where he is studying political science, with a minor in legal studies. He is president of the UMF Men’s Rugby Club and has served as vice president of the Student Senate.
