Cynthia C. Dodge

Cynthia Colby Dodge, 69, of Westport Island died peacefully on April 6, 2016 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

Cyndy was born February 7, 1947 to Kenneth and Jeanette Colby in Damariscotta. She graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1965. After spending time in Boston working in retail, she returned to Maine and raised her family in Edgecomb.  

Cyndy worked for many years at Le Garage Restaurant in Wiscasset and later as a custodian in area schools. She loved being in nature, sitting in the sunshine and was proud to be a Master Gardener. She created many beautiful flower gardens for herself and others to enjoy. She was a voracious reader and particularly loved reading newspapers, clipping noteworthy articles daily to share with her loved ones. Cyndy loved spending time with her family and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed bird watching, was passionate about political topics and always cheered for the New England Patriots.

She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Jeanette Colby; her husband, Wayne T. Dodge; and sisters, Constance C. Smith and Christa A. Colby.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alexa and Jason Abbott and their daughter Mara Jeanette of Westport Island; son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Andrea Dodge and their son Patrick Thomas of Vermont; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Gregory Pyle and their sons Keenan and Quinn of Monmouth.

She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to honor Cyndy with a celebration of life on Saturday, April 23 from 2-5p.m. at the home of David and Linda Abbott, 1116 West Alna Road, Alna.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider “Sponsoring a Senior” through Meals on Wheels. Cyndy benefited greatly from this organization and she often wrote them personal notes of appreciation thanking them for their services.
