Dale E. Grant, 46, died the evening of May 15, 2015 at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Sept. 19, 1968 in Boothbay Harbor, he was the son of Dale G. and Patricia E. Grant of Edgecomb.

Dale was a very intelligent person and had many talents. He was a gifted artist, history buff, was once an urchin diver, carpenter and had a very good career as a boilermaker in Local 29 out of Quincy, Massachusetts.

He had a gift of making people laugh, and had a way of telling a story.  He will always be remembered for his great laugh, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his father, Dale Grant; as well as his faithful and loving companion, Jose Wales, his outlaw dog.

He is survived by his mother, Patty Grant of Edgecomb; brother, Douglas Jesse Schmal and his wife Shelley of Wiscasset; brother, Matthew James Schmal of Edgecomb; sister, Cindy Cheney of Pemaquid; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 22 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta.
