Dan S. Edgerton died November 2, 2012 in Brunswick at the age of 84.

He was born in Rutland, Vt. March 15, 1928 to Phyllis Burke Edgerton and Dan Erskine Edgerton. Dan was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy, and graduated from Bowdoin College with a bachelor's degree in French, and University of Maine at Orono with a master's degree in pulp and paper. He was a corporal in the Army of Occupation after World War II in Germany.

Dan was an avid fly fisherman from a young age. As a young man he had a float plane which he flew to his favorite lakes in northern Maine. In recent years he made an annual trip to Labrador to fish on the Minipi River, and was very proud to have caught a world record trout. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Paris. He also enjoyed playing cribbage.

During the summers, Dan and his family spent time at their cottage in East Boothbay, where he took up lobstering part-time as a hobby for several seasons. He enjoyed working on the cottage and socializing with friends there.

Dan leaves behind three children, William C. Edgerton of Topsham, Jonathan C. Edgerton and his wife Linda of Bowdoin and Louisa P. Edgerton of Bath. He also leaves two granddaughters, Julia and Elizabeth, both of Bowdoin.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring or summer of 2013 at Ocean Point in East Boothbay. Donations may be made in Dan’s name to Cathance River Education Alliance or Chewonki Foundation.
