Tue, 02/16/2016 - 10:15am

Donna Mae Greenleaf, 72, of Livermore Falls, died peacefully on Feb. 13, 2016, and was reunited the day before Valentine’s Day with her beloved late husband, L. Stephen Greenleaf. She was lovingly cared for at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born Feb. 26, 1943 in Lewiston, a daughter of Leo and Pauline (Rose) Therrien. She was always grateful for the love bestowed on her by her maternal grandparents following the too soon passing of her dear mother. She often recalled taking the train from Chisholm to Canton where Bertha and Winfield Rose lived; she credited them, always, for their loving guidance in raising her.

She attended St. Rose School and was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. On April 15, 1966, she married L. Stephen Greenleaf. He died Feb. 19, 2011.

For many years, she was a self-employed beautician and managed Donna’s Beauty Salon in her Livermore Falls home, from which she retired in 2009. For 25 years, she and her husband enjoyed crafting and attended shows throughout the state with their own booth.

She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed helping people with alterations, recently completing a bridesmaid dress for a granddaughter.

She and her husband were Red Sox fans and enjoyed watching games together and with her family; they especially enjoyed Jerry Remy’s and Don Orsillo’s commentary. She and her husband were devoted grandparents and did not miss any sporting events (roller hockey, golf, baseball and basketball) of their grandson, Joshua Tainter, beginning in grade school and following him through his high school career.

She is loved by daughter, Leslie Tainter of Livermore Falls; grandson, Joshua Tainter and his wife Brittany of Livermore Falls; a sister (who she raised as a daughter), Penny Farnum and her husband Webster of Jay and their children Wade and Kayla; two sisters: Patricia “Patty” Mitchell and her husband Kent of Jay, and Sandy Benedetto of Lewiston; a brother, Richard Therrien of Jay.

She is also survived by three special “daughters”: Lisa Holt and her husband Mark and their daughter Mikala; Tammy Ferland and her husband Roger, and Krista White and her husband Bill and their children Chandler, Elizabeth and Kyla, all of Livermore; also Ryan Ridley “son”, Karly Wilkins “granddaughter” and Stephen Souther “grandson.” She felt the blessings of special friends, Pam Brown of Jay and Linda Chretien, Joy Lake, Loretta Maxwell and Bonnie Castonguay, all of Livermore Falls.

She was predeceased by her husband, son-in-law Scott Tainter, and a “grandson” Jeremy Keene.

Public memorial graveside services will be held on her 50th wedding anniversary, April 15, 2016, at 4 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Canton, with Pastor Barry Trask officiating. Following services, all are welcome to attend a comfort reception at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Road (Rte. 133), Jay.

Remembrance gifts may be given to either the Tainter & Simoneau Fdt., a local nonprofit whose mission is to help community members and their families who are coping with serious illness, c/o Franklin Savings Bank, P.O. Box 30, Jay, ME 04239; or to Hospice House, c/o Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Development Office, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240.
