The Edgecomb Historical Society will meet Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Edgecomb Congregational Church Fellowship Hall.

Be sure to join us for the business meeting and don't miss the presentation, "An Economy or Spirits: 18th Century Taverns of Lincoln County.” Historian Jay Robbins of Richmond will pour forth an interesting illustrated talk covering the role of alcohol in our local communities and economies from about 1740 to 1800. This is the period when we made the transition from Colony to Commonwealth and from Royal Edict to self rule. Regardless of who was calling the shots, the need to generate income from alcohol and to remained unchanged.
