Elsie Palmer

Elsie Palmer, daughter of Edgar F. and Edna T. Miller, died at age 84 on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, in Sudbury, Mass., surrounded by her family.

Elsie was born in Hartford, Conn. She lived most of her life in West Hartford, Conn. and Boothbay Harbor. Most recently, she had been living with her daughter Anne in Sudbury, Mass. She graduated from Wm. Hall High School in West Hartford and attended Connecticut College in New London, Conn.

Elsie was married for 54 years to her husband Russell who predeceased her in 2007.

Elsie worked at Aetna Life and Casualty in Hartford, Conn. She was a member of the Junior League of Hartford, The Town and County Club of Hartford and the Hartford Golf Club where she was a perennial champion in ladies bowling. She was also a vestry member of St. James's Church in West Hartford and of St. Columba's Church in Boothbay Harbor.

Her greatest love was her family whom she nurtured and cared for with great passion. She also loved travel (especially to Bermuda), fashion, watching Jeopardy, being in Maine, the Boston Red Sox, sports in general and her family's many golden retrievers.

She leaves her sister, Joan M. Sandstrom of Boothbay. She also leaves her five children, Gilbert F. Palmer and his wife Pat, Betsy P. Flynn, Curtis R. Palmer and his wife Ellen, Jane P. Pollard and her husband Sam and Anne P. Bisson and her husband Donald. She also leaves her cherished eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Elsie also leaves behind several loving nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private burial ceremony at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of North Shore and Greater Boston would be greatly appreciated.
