Eugene F. Reed Sr.

Eugene F. Reed Sr., 83, of Boothbay died peacefully at home Feb. 13, 2018 following a brief illness.

For many years, Gene worked for Conley’s Garden Center. He also worked for both the Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor public works departments and the Dead River company. He also worked in many area shipyards and enjoyed working on cars.

Eugene was a very caring man. He loves animals and spending time with his family and friends. He was affectionately called, “Gene, Gene the dancing machine.” He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Roxanne (Barter) Reed; his sons, Warren and Eugene Reed Jr. (Matt); a daughter, Angela Reed (Weston); three grandchildren, Erik D. Reed, Nathan E. Reed and Lenore Reed-Dubois; four great-grandchildren, James, Gavin, Aiden and Logan; his sister, Priscilla Stevens; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents (Emerson and Frances Reed), Roxanne’s parents (Florence and Warren Barter), sisters Jeanette Giles, Geraldine Andrews, Doris Purdy, and brothers Parker Reed Sr., Richard Reed and Herman Reed.

There will be a celebration of life for Eugene on Friday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Pythias Hall, Lakeside Drive, Boothbay Harbor.
