The fifth grade Language Arts classes of Nancy Erkman and Barbara Wyman celebrated April Fools’ Day with a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. They have have been listening to the original Lewis Carroll “The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland” and have learned many new story elements and vocabulary words.

The students were instructed to create original hats to wear and learned the steps of “pouring a formal tea.” They also enjoyed playing a quiz game about the famous fantasy story, listened to Lewis Carroll poetry, and practiced polite conversation. Parents donated delicious tea cookies and cakes and the tea was sipped from real china tea cups.
