Fred E. Peaslee

Fred E. Peaslee, 88, of Wiscasset, died February 17, 2014 at his home with his loving wife by his side.

He was born February 9, 1926 in Somerville, a son of the late Guy and Leola (Benner) Peaslee.

Fred attended school in Jefferson and served honorably with the United States Navy during World War II. On July 18, 1947, he married Marylou Soule. For over 62 years, he sold Christmas trees and started the family tree farm in Edgecomb in 1980. For 35 years he worked as a marine worm shipper.

Fred was a member of Lincoln Lodge of Masons No. 3 in Wiscasset and Past-Commander of the Bradford-Sortwell-Wright American Legion Post #54 in Wiscasset.  He was an avid racing fan selling tires to racers for years. He loved camping, fishing and hunting, but most especially spending time with his family.  

In addition to his wife of more than 66 years, Marylou Peaslee of Wiscasset, he is survived by a daughter, Cindy Hill and her husband Dennis of Edgecomb; a son, Steven Peaslee Sr. and his wife Gwen of Blue Hill; four grandchildren, Steven Peaslee Jr. of Waldoboro, Corey Hill and his wife Melissa of Abbot, Stacey Gato and her husband Tim of Virginia, and Samantha Footer and her husband Joseph of Dresden; five great-grandchildren, Danika, Shanoah, Martina, Emily and Sarah; and four sisters and eight brothers.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Timmy Peaslee, in 1948.

Relatives and friends are invited to join with the family for a graveside service to celebrate his life in the spring.  Should friends so desire donations may be made in his memory to the Bradford-Sortwell-Wright American Legion Post #54, P.O. Box #214, Wiscasset, ME 04578.
