Frederick R. Hart III, 80, of Wiscasset, died peacefully on the morning of Feb. 11, 2018 near his home in Maine.

Fred was born on July 1, 1937, in Concord Massachusetts, to Fred and Lois Hart.  He briefly attended the University of Miami and later graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Fred proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Fred retired after working over 30 years for United Airlines at the Oakland and San Francisco, California and Portland, Maine airports. Fred was loved and cherished by all of his United Airlines co-workers.

Fred was fond of model trains, so after retirement he volunteered and worked at the Boothbay Railway Village in Boothbay, Maine. He loved to do crossword puzzles in his favorite chair overlooking the Sheepscot River, and he was an avid fan of both the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his four daughters: Michaela M. Hart of Pleasanton, California, Tiffany L. Meyer (Richard) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Seneschel Sims (Matt) of Hayward, California, and Cashel Fanslau (Brian) of Alna, Maine; his ten grandchildren: Kyle, Nikyra, Angela, Shane, Allen, Ariana, Freya, Matthias, Isaac and Isabel; his partner, Wilma Turcotte of Wiscasset, Maine; his brothers, David Hart (Roberta) of Dresden, Maine and Robert Eisenhauer (Andrea) of Land O’Lakes, Florida; his lifelong friend, Patricia Hart of Hayward, California; and many other extended family members and friends.

Services will be private, with a graveside gathering later this year.  The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to either the Boothbay Railway Village, 586 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, ME 04537; or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 222 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60606.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543.  Condolences, and messages for his family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
