George A. Wolf

George A. Wolf, 86, of Boothbay, Maine and Winter Haven, Florida, died Aug. 13, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Liverpool, New York.

George resided in New Jersey for many years, and was employed for 37 years at New Jersey Bell, and later Verizon, retiring in 1989. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, and a member of the American Rhododendron Society. He was a head usher and altar server at church. He was a hunter and fly fisherman. Additionally, George was an avid reader, in particular Civil War history, and the writings of Kenneth Roberts. He enjoyed doing the daily New York Times crossword puzzle. His mechanical skills were unparalleled; there was nothing he couldn’t fix.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Dawn Ellen Wolf, on November 11, 2013.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Marie Therese (Conlon) Wolf; two daughters, Marie Elizabeth Goren and Wendy (James) Blasland; his grandchildren; Cpt. Christopher (Natalie) Goren, Laura (Jacob) Kiley, Brendan (Lindsay) Goren, Billie Dawn Greenfield, James Michael Blasland, William George Blasland, and Emily Marie Blasland; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. at the Maurer Funeral Home, Syracuse, New York and at 10:30 a.m. in The Franciscan Church of the Assumption, 812 N. Salina St. in Syracuse. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 300 Second St. in Liverpool.
