Gloria C. Peters, 91, died peacefully Aug. 21, 2014, at Winship Green in Bath.

She was born in Damariscotta on Jan. 19, 1923, to Glen and Caroline Ferris Rollins.

Gloria was a graduate of the Lincoln Academy, Newcastle. After school she went to work for Alewives Stream in Damariscotta, and Medomak Canning factories for several years, while raising two young sons. After the boys had grown, Gloria returned to work in her thirties at GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro, retiring after 33 years of service.

Gloria loved her flower garden and the satisfaction it brought her. She was always puttering and working on many projects at the same time. She enjoyed chopping her own firewood for the winter, and stacking it precisely. In the winter she had her sewing projects to keep her busy. No matter what, she looked forward to her daily two mile walk with her son, David.

Gloria was known for her heart of gold. She was willing to do anything for anybody and never expected anything in return. Her pride and joy was her 1993 Ford Ranger, which she kept spotless. She drove it proudly wherever she went. She will be sadly missed by many, especially her family.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Chapman and his wife Debbie of Bristol and David Chapman of Boothbay; granddaughters, Karen Dalton of Wiscasset and Lisa Orne of Boothbay; half-brother, George Ferris of Nobleboro. She also leaves many additional grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-stepchildren. Gloria also had several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Peters; brother, Richard Rollins; and daughter-in-law, Ozelie Chapman.

A service of remembrance will be held at her final resting place in Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay, on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m., with Al Roberts officiating.

Donations can be made in Gloria’s name, to The Alzheimer’s Association of Maine, 383 U.S. Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.

Services were entrusted to Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.
