A graveside service and burial for Harold “Robbie” Robinson, 88, of Boothbay Harbor, who died peacefully in his sleep on November 28, 2015, will be held Friday, July 29 at 10 a.m. at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. A motorcycle escort by the Legion Riders will be escorting Robbie for his Last Ride from the American Legion Hall in Boothbay, leaving at 8:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to be in the procession is welcome.

Robbie was born March 5, 1927 to Ernest F. Robinson and Nellie Cooper Robinson of Rockport, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his sister, Miriam L. Margison of Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Harold L. Robinson enlisted as a Navy Seaman September 30, 1944 and served in the Navy until January 5, 1948.

Robbie took a brief break from the service to take care of his sick mother, then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, from which he retired in November 1966. Robbie served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Robbie witnessed the signing ceremonies on the deck of the U.S.S. Missouri in World War II in Tokyo Bay from the deck of the massive Japanese battleship, Nagato.

He was a member of the American Legion for 70 years.

Robbie had the privilege of traveling to Washington, D.C. with the Honor Flight Maine program just a month before he passed away. He stated it was one of the most meaningful experiences of his life.

We miss him greatly, but will see him again in heaven because Robbie knew Jesus Christ as his Savior.
