He was born on May 22, 1919 in West Southport to George Webber and Carrie (Vail) Webber.

Harold graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in 1937. After marrying the love of his life, Phyllis Hart, in 1940, they moved to Bath. He then went to work as a welder at Bath Iron Works, and he and Phyllis started their family. In 1944, Harold was called to serve in the Army, being initially stationed in Le Harve, France, serving on the machine gun squad of the 87th Division. He also served in Germany and Czechoslovakia before the end of the war. Harold went on to earn the Bronze Star Medal in Germany, Combat Infantry Badge, European Theater of War Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. He was also recalled to join the Korean War effort being Honorably Discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Following his military service, Harold went on to work as a carpenter, building houses, and into the boatbuilding business at Boothbay area shipyards such as Brewer’s Boatyard and Norman Hodgdon Yacht Builders, which was later owned by Capt. Bob Fish.

Harold was a proud and involved member of the Seaside Lodge of Masons #144 and American Legion Post 36, Boothbay, regularly attending all the meetings and participating in the annual parades.

He was a history buff and read extensively. He was the subject in two of the books written by local author and historian Sarah Sherman. As a movie fan, Harold enjoyed the films of John Wayne very much. He was also an avid hunter and loved snowmobiling.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Judith Webber of Port Orange, Florida; his son, Mark Webber and his wife Sue Anderson of Wiscasset; his grandson, Darrell Zwinge and his wife Amy Yeager of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; and his granddaughters, Corrinne Zwinge Blank and her husband Lawrence of West Lebanon, New York and Deidre Zwinge.
