Harvest Supper

On Saturday, Oct. 3, Dresden Historical Society will host its annual Harvest Supper at Dresden Elementary School with two seatings; the first at 5 p.m. and the second at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets can be reserved by calling either Dale Hinote at 207-809-7975 or Shari Lilly at 207-737-2566. Cost of tickets are $10 per adult; $5 for children 5 to 17 and free for children under 5 years of age.

Please let us know how many people will be attending and what time you would prefer to have your meal. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

The menu will consist of turkey, potatoes, squash, homemade gravy, homemade stuffing, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce, desserts and refreshments.

We hope you will bring your family and friends to this fun, relaxing and tasty fundraiser. The school is located on Route 128 (Cedar Grove Road).

Fire department open house

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, members of the Dresden Fire Department will host its annual Fire Prevention Open House at Pownalborough Station (which is located near the intersection of routes 128 and 197), 5-7 p.m.

We’ll have lots of information about fire prevention and what to do in case of a fire. Firefighters will answer any questions you may have about the trucks, the equipment on them, what they are used for and they’ll show you the gear they have to wear when they respond to a call.

There will be different fire trucks from other towns, hot dogs and hamburgers, refreshments, games for the kids, door prizes, raffles and Sparky the Fire Dog. We hope you will take the time to bring your family to this very important and fun event.

Note: The members meet every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the station to do regular truck and station maintenance as well as any training that is scheduled. Members should check the bulletin board for more information. As with so many departments these days, we are in need of more members. We are an important part of our community. Please consider joining.

Planning board meets

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Dresden Planning Board members will meet at Pownalborough Hall at 6:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend. Anyone planning a project or just needing some information can call Chairman Jeffrey Pierce at 207-441-3006 or leave a message at the town office and he will get back to you. Oftentimes, we do have ongoing business that may warrant us to have two meetings in a month.

Historical society meets

On Monday, Oct. 12, Dresden Historical Society will have the monthly business meeting at the Yellow Schoolhouse beginning at 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing the outcome of the Harvest Supper, nominations for the upcoming 2016 officer recommendations, make plans for our annual supper, as well as preparations of the museum and school for the winter months. All members are urged to attend.

Sno-Valley Riders meet

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, Members of the Dresden Sno-Valley Riders will have the monthly business meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Dresden Town House located on Route 197. All members are urged to attend as we make preparations for the upcoming landowner cookout.

We will also be scheduling trail maintenance and other trail and equipment issues. New members are always welcome to attend or if you can’t make the meeting just call the membership chairperson, Shari, at 207-737-2566. It’s great to have the support of landowners and snowmobile enthusiasts.
