It's back to the ‘Three B’s’ for DaPonte
In a radical reversal from their electrified winter series, the DaPonte String Quartet greet spring with a return to the most traditional classical music—the “three B’s”: Beethoven, Brahms and Bach. Guest artist Katherine Murdock joins them on viola for “Bees in Your Bonnet” featuring quintets by Beethoven and Brahms and fugues by Bach. The concerts will be performed March 19-26 in Rockport, Portland, Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor and Brunswick.
Murdock has performed as guest artist with many distinguished string quartets including Emerson and Guarneri, as well as with the New York Philharmonic and Boston Symphony. She and the Quartet will play Beethoven's “String Quintet in C Major,” “Opus 29” and Brahms's “String Quintet In G Major.” Selections from Bach's “Art of the Fugue” complete the concert.
