Janet S. Rines, 56, of Johnson Street in Wiscasset, died January 22, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a very courageous battle with Melanoma cancer.

Janet was born at Gardiner General Hospital August 13, 1956, a daughter of Paul and Louise (Pratt) Skidmore.

She graduated from Hall-Dale High School in 1974 and then attended the University of Maine at Augusta. She began working for Depositors Trust Bank in Augusta, Brunswick Naval Air Station as a key punch operator, USN Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Janet's Day Care and finally Shaw's of Bath where she made beloved friendships for more than 22 years.

Janet's generous nature served her community well. Everyone knew her laugh and it would bring a smile to their face. She was always willing to help people she saw in need. Her favorite hobbies included sewing, quilting and crafting. She sold her handmade crafts at local craft fairs as Janet Rines Country & Primitive Crafts.

Family and friends all cherish their heartfelt gifts from Janet. The family believes her favorite pastime was watching and possibly spoiling her four grandchildren, who she truly loved with all her heart.

Janet has been a member in the Order of the Eastern Star for 35 years. Most recently with Crescent Chapter #54, O.E.S. East Boothbay, Past Worthy Matron of Garrison Hill #58 O.E.S., Wiscasset, and Grand Representative to Georgia in Maine O.E.S.

Janet is survived by her husband, Robert A. Rines, of 36 years; two children, daughter Marcie, her husband Ryan Coffin and granddaughter, Courtney Pearl Coffin, all of Glenburn; son Paul B. Rines, his wife Jamie and grandchildren, William Issac Hall-Snyder, Naomi Hope and Josh Benjamin Rines, all of Bath; one AFS daughter, Cecile Kronitz of Germany; sisters, Kay Gregory, Judy Meserve and her husband Jim, both of Farmingdale; sister-in-law, Pam and Sam Soule of Westport Island; brothers-in-law, Larry Rines and his wife Carol, Benny Rines, Peter Rines and his companion Jim Smith, Mark Rines and his wife Lori, and Ray Rines, all of Wiscasset; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset in the spring.
