Joanne McBride

Joanne McBride, 69, of Boothbay Harbor, died May 29, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Feb. 28, 1946 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to James and Teresa (Cavalli) McBride.

Joanne graduated from St. Aloysius High School in Jersey City in 1964 and then attended Rutgers University where she received a bachelor’s degree in English education.

She first met Michael McBride in the seventh grade, but they did not start dating until they were both students at Rutgers. The couple married Aug. 24, 1968.

After college, Joanne taught middle school for one year before she and her husband Michael started a family. She was a stay-at-home-mom until her two sons were grown. She then worked at a jewelry store before becoming a preschool teacher for 10 years. She retired in 2008.

Joanne was a huge Elvis fan and loved cooking for her family. Her true passion was spending time and being very involved with her family.

Joanne was predeceased by her parents and granddaughter, Colleen McBride.

She is survived by her husband, Michael McBride of Boothbay Harbor; sons, Michael (Brooke) McBride of Hardyston, New Jersey, and David (Corinn) McBride of Rockaway, New Jersey; sister, Rosemary (Charles Bur) McBride of Rockaway, New Jersey; grandchildren, Mickey and Meghan McBride of Hardyston, New Jersey, and Colin McBride of Rockaway, New Jersey; nephew James Bur of Rockaway, New Jersey; and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. at Hall’s of Boothbay and a funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Boothbay Harbor followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery on Tuesday, June 2, 2015.
