John S. Pringle

John S. Pringle, 86, of Wiscasset died on Jan. 3, 2015 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, Massachusetts.

He was born in Montreal, Canada on Aug. 15, 1928, the son of the late John and Gertrude (Skinner) Pringle. He grew up in Three Rivers, Quebec and graduated from Mt. Allison University and McGill University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as a professional engineer for International Paper for 30 years, living in Quebec, Ontario, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Ohio and Wisconsin.

He later worked for United Fruit Co., in international sales and traveled extensively.

John was married in 1955 and had lived in Wiscasset for the past 20 years. He was very active in both the Canadian Boy Scouts and The Boy Scouts of America. Jack played hockey in university and adult leagues and continued his passion for skating in later years. He also enjoyed sailing, woodworking, gardening and inline skating.

John is survived by his wife, Margaret “Bibsy” Pringle of Wiscasset; two sons, Christopher Pringle of Rowley, Mass. and Michael Pringle of Sandwich, Mass.; and a daughter, Wendy Tanahashi-Works of Littleton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jessica, Heather, Janyne, Tyler, Erika, Matilda and Emma.

A celebration of life gathering for friends and family will be held in Wiscasset in the spring.
