Blues lovers turned out to hear the trio Junction 218 in the final installment of the “Alive on the Common” summer concert series Thursday evening.

Junction 218 is made up of Joel Wentz on bass, Dan Wells on guitar and Wiscasset’s own Will Truesdell on drums. Wentz and Wells share the vocals.

The band played an inspired 90-minute show that included a number of blues standards. Included were songs by Blues Brothers, Neil Young, Howlin’ Wolf and The Black Keys.

“The first time we played together live was right here last year. Someone took a picture showing that road sign behind us and that’s how we got our name,” Wentz said.

Wells said the band’s next show is Nov. 2 at the Flight Deck in Brunswick. Thursday night’s performance was sponsored by the Carl M.P. Larrabee Insurance Agency.

The concerts were presented by the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce and the Wiscasset Parks and Recreation Department. Other sponsors included Davison Construction, First National Bank, Tim Dunham Realty, Ames True Value, Patricia Stauble Antiques, Norm’s Used Cars, Jen Spaur and Montsweag Farm Restaurant.

The Dyer Neck Band kicked off the free concert series on the Fourth of July. Other performers included Pan Fried Steel, the Liz Lennon Band, Salty Dogs and Ron Bergeron.
