Katheryn J. Carr

Katheryn Jessie Umber Hunter Carr died March 1, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Katheryn was born in Lake Placid, N.Y., the youngest of 11 children, to Richard and Emma (Stalker) Umber. She graduated high school and went on to become a dedicated registered nurse.

She was married to Wallace Hunter (deceased) of Ogdensburg, N.Y., then, married Lowell Alan Carr.

Katheryn was a member of the VFW and the AMVETS in Ogdensburg, N.Y. She enjoyed volunteering in the kitchen, dancing, bingo, travel, gambling and living life to the fullest. Her favorite saying was, “To each their own.” She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Katheryn was predeceased by her husband, Lowell A. Carr; her beloved daughter, Judith Hunter Wylie Fox; and her great-grandson, Michael Green.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail M. Hunter of Woolwich; son, Gregory A Carr of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; grandchildren, Donald Wylie, Tamie Winters Bedard, Sandra A. Winters, Daniel T. Winters, Ryan Carr; and special, honorary grandchildren Donna Grover Colford and Frank Grover III. She had 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including special nieces and traveling companions, Shirley Mills and Anne Terry.

A special thanks to the staff at Safe Havens of St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor, ME for the loving care given to Kay in her final years.

Memorial contributions to Veterans Services may be made in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are made by Desmond Funeral home. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
