Kathleen W. Adams

Kathleen Watts Adams of Boothbay Harbor died peacefully early Sunday morning, August 17, 2014.

She was born in Boothbay Harbor on June 13, 1916, the daughter of Robert B. Watts and Rachel Bowman Watts. She was married to Lewis W. Adams on May 29, 1941. After the sudden death of her father, she and her husband operated the Watts Taxi Service from their office on Commercial Street in Boothbay Harbor until 1954.

She was employed as a secretary at the National Marine Fisheries Service Biological Laboratory in West Harbor from April 1955 until 1973, when the facility was moved to Woods Hole, Massachusetts. She transferred to the Veterans Administration Hospital at Togus as a member of the typing-pool until her retirement after 20 years of government service. She also worked at the law office of Perkins & Perkins, and secretary for real estate agent Ethelyn Giles.

She enjoyed knitting, reading and crossword puzzles. She also had a great interest in the Boothbay Region Historical Society, volunteering and contributing to the history of the region. She and her husband were charter members of the Dirigo Horse and Pony Club. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Stars Mt. Pisgah Chapter.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis in 1994; her son, Frank Adams in 2008; her grandson, Lewis Adams in 2009; three brothers, Robert N. Watts, Nelson A. Watts, Ralph J. Watts; two sisters, Lulu W. Grover, Evelyn Wheeler and a very special niece, Hilday DeAngelis.

As per her request, there will be cremation, but no funeral and no picture added to this obituary.
