Learn adult and pediatric CPR, First Aid and more

Taught by a certified instructor, Andrew Eckman, participants will learn how to perform CPR (chest compressions and rescue breaths) and recognize signs of and how to care for breathing emergencies and choking.

Learn what defibrillation is and how it works, and precautions to take when using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for all age groups, including adults, children and infants.

The first aid component includes identifying the signals of common sudden illnesses and how to care for them, caring for seizures, heat and cold related injuries, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, control external bleeding and care for head, neck and spinal injuries.

The Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSL) replaces the Red Cross classes. A two year certificate awarded upon successful completion and this course may also be used for re-certification.

The course is being offered through Boothbay Region Adult & Community Education on Nov. 4 and 6 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the high school. The course fee is $55.
