Lincoln County Democrats host Farmers’ Feast Dinner and contra dance Oct. 25

Fri, 10/02/2015 - 3:00pm

Good food, good music, and keeping it local are what the upcoming Farmers’ Feast Dinner and Dance event is all about, according to event organizer Valarie Johnson.

“We’re hoping that lots of people come and have a great time,” Johnson said.

The dinner and dance will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Arlington Grange Hall in Whitefield.

The evening will start at 4:30 p.m. with social time and indoor-plant sale. At 5 p.m., volunteers, including Sen. Chris Johnson and Rep. Mick Devin, will serve dinner, and the music and dancing will start at 6:30 p.m.

All food will be grown or raised locally, and vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available. Well-known local musicians Toki Oshima and John Pranio, who have done contra dances at the Whitefield Grange in the past, will provide the music with a local caller.

The wood floor in the grange is beautiful, particularly upstairs where the dancing will be, so it will be good if people bring a spare pair of dancing shoes,” Committee Chairman Jim Torbert said. “We’ll also have brushes available to clean shoes if need be.”

Dinner will be $12 adults, $7 for children under 10. Dance tickets will be $10, or $5 for kids, and combo dinner and dance tickets will be $20 ($10 for children). Host sponsorship is $100 and includes two dinners and dance tickets.

Tickets can be ordered in advance by making your check payable to Lincoln County Democratic Committee and sending it to Sandie O’Farrell, Treasurer; P.O. Box 336; Waldoboro, ME 04572. For more information, please call Valarie Johnson at 207-549-3358.
