Lincoln County Democrats open campaign office

Wed, 08/06/2014 - 1:30pm

On Wednesday, July 30, Lincoln County Democrats (LCDC) officially opened their 2014 campaign office on Main Street in Damariscotta. The office is located at the Hilltop Center in the former temporary location of Mexicali Blues and the former home of the Animal House.

LCDC chairman Lisa Miller announced at the event that Dr. Edmee DeJean of Newcastle has been appointed office manager. DeJean announced that the office will be open daily in August; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Further hours will be established in September and October.

DeJean said the office is well supplied with campaign supplies (bumper stickers, lawn signs, buttons, etc.) and literature for all Democrats on the ballot, from gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud, senatorial candidate Shenna Bellows and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree to local candidates for the state legislature and county offices. Miller invites the public to come and chat, to learn more about the candidates and their positions on various issues and to volunteer to help in the campaigns.

“There are many options for volunteering, Miller said, including phone banks, door to door canvassing, driving for candidates, data entry, letters to the editor, marching in parades, etc.”

Phone banks, which had previously been organized in individual residences throughout the county, have now been centralized in the office and are taking place several days a week. Calls are being made on behalf of all Democratic candidates who will be on the ballot in Lincoln County on Election Day, November 4.
