Lincoln County Republicans meet, open new headquarters

Tue, 07/22/2014 - 2:00pm

The Lincoln County Republican Committee (LCRC) inaugurated its new headquarters by holding its July monthly meeting there. The headquarters is located on Business Route 1 (529 Main Street) on the left side of the Masonic Hall, next to the American Legion in Damariscotta.

“We're very excited about the building,” Chairman Stuart Smith said. “It's conveniently located and has plenty of space for meetings and parking. The facility will also be a communication center in the sophisticated new state GOP election technology support system for candidates and Republican leaders.”

Initially, the headquarters will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Smith said people will soon be able to pick up Republican campaign materials, not just for Lincoln County, but also for neighboring counties.

"Got questions about absentee ballots? Need yard signs? Then feel free to stop in," Smith said. "And we will also continue to hold our county meetings there on the first Tuesday of the month. I encourage all Republicans to attend and get informed. A lot is riding on this November's election at both the state and national level and every vote counts.”

During the meeting, Les Fossel, running for Maine Senate District 20, and Anna Morkeski, running for Maine House District 90, discussed their respective campaign activities. Both have been out meeting voters and are enthused with the new support system as it will provide them with more complete and timely voter information as it will other Lincoln County Republican candidates.

Several upcoming major events were discussed. The LCRC, with support from the Maine State GOP and its SHE Leads initiative, is sponsoring an event at the Damariscotta Lake Farm Restaurant in Jefferson on July 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. that will honor current and past women state Republican legislators. The program will also include a dinner. Tickets for the meal are $15 and can be obtained from Christiana Poole. She can be reached at 207-563-1232 or jepoole@roadrunner.com. (The SHE Leads initiative develops programs to identify, train, and support Republican women.)

On August 20, the Friends of Governor Paul LePage will be sponsoring a fundraiser at the 1812 Farm on Route 130 in Bristol Mills. The event is open to the public. More information will be forthcoming.

The next meeting of the LCRC will be held August 5. For more information about the LCRC, visit www.lincolncountyrepublicans.org or email info@lincolncountyrepublicans.org.
